"O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called: Which some professing have erred concerning the faith. Grace be with thee. Amen."

Is Laminin a Christian Symbol?

Sometimes, we Christians can get wrapped up in the emotion of worship, but we also need to make sure we are balanced with mindful education, with foundational grounding in the Word of God. The Lord wants us to be reasonable when analyzing the world (Isa 1:18), and when we throw off musing (thinking) about subjects, we are vunerable to deception. Just because a Christian is on tour, charges tickets to big audiotoriums, and speaks after Christian rock bands, does not make him automatically right because we are not to be respecters of persons.

One of the flaws I commonly point out in the evolutionary community is how most evolutionists will take the first thing they can find that appears to support evolution, and run with it BEFORE it's been fully researched and analyzed, thereby embarrassing themselves because what they claim to be "evidence," is actually made up in their religious imaginations. Likewise, I also see many Christians, who do not research and study matters, often do the same thing, and I would rebuke Christians in the same manner on this issue.

The following video is a 40-minute presentation given by a man name Louie Giglio, entitled "How Great Is Our God." Giglio has toured all over the country speaking after hyped-up new-age "Christians" bands play a bunch of loud music and get the crowd emotionally high. Afterwards he discusses a number of topics, including "laminin."

I am not arguing God greatness, although it is very vague and worn out for Christians to repeat this phrase over and over like some buddhist mantra, which they I see frequently in online "Christian" comments. (e.g. "Our God is an Awesome God" is a very new-age song that specifies nothing about the True Living God, and becomes an emotional phrase spoken over and over in vanity.) We need to understand that when men like Giglio in this kind of a setting throw out "facts," typically, the purpose isn't to give good information as much as it is to tell the audience whatever they need to hear to give them an emotional high in order to sell more tickets.

@2:03 [video elapsed time] Giglio mentions the distance from us to the Whirlpool Galaxy as 31 million light years, and though this is also what is claimed by hubblesite.org, there are numerous logical and mathematical problems with this claim that I have covered in other articles. Not only are there huge systematic errors by relying on hubble "constants," (which are not constants at all) but evolutionary scientists are claiming the distance to stars based on parallax trigonometry, which is not capable of measuring distances beyond few hundred light years at best. I make this point to demonstrate that Giglio is not researching his "facts," and when an emotionally-high, gullible audience hears the unresearched information Giglio throws out, they will repeat this to other people in a chain reaction of spreading false information among Body of Christ.

@12:35 Giglio demonstrates his belief in the old earth evolution model because of the way he explains large time frames:
"29,700 BC is a trillion seconds ago. A quadrillion seconds ago--30,800,000 years ago is a quadrillion seconds ago."
-Louie Giglio, given in a public presentation to a live audience, How Great is Our God Tour, retrieved Aug 19, 2011

Giglio does not believe the account of Exodus 20:8-11 that God wrote on a rock with his own finger. The acceptance of time frames longer than the roughly 6,000 years which the Bible gives is open denial of God's Word and Jesus Christ.

Keep in mind that Giglio's star presentation was almost completely computer-generated (CG) video. CG videos can be altered by creative imaginations to become whatever the artist wants them to look like. This means Giglio is telling people to imagine what these things might look like, and then based God's greatness on their imaginations, which is completely unbiblical in every sense because if God is based on the imagination, then it is idolatry, which creates a false god in the image (imagination) of something else.
The rest of Giglio's star presentation was 2D images showing spots of light in space (and most of what he showed was not original; he copied a lot of it from other star presentations offered by AiG and other creationist organziations). Computer generated videos can turn a tricycle into a tiger (as shown in the video here), and they tell us nothing of star size. Since no one has ever been able to see more than spots of light in space, that is all Giglio was able to show in real photographs, and expects his audience to use their imaginations for the rest.
After Giglio gets the audience all emotionally hyped-up from his ASSUMED, unresearched information about stars, Giglio then moves on to the highlight of his presentation, which is an emphasis on laminin being a symbol of Christ in the shape of a cross. Giglio displays this molecule diagram to the audience @31:57 with their reaction of oohs, aahs, and applauds. This seems to be an extremely impressive argument on the surface, but when we dig into the facts, we can see how Gilgio's intentions (along with his staff) is to entertain, not to educate.
This is a molecule diagram of a potassium channel, which is found in almost all living things, helping with cell functions. Notice that the potassium channel diagram is in the shape of the Nazi swastika. Does this mean God intended to have the symbol of the nazis in this molecule's design? It's just an efficient shape for how it is designed to work, there is not secret meaning behind it, and it is only a DIAGRAM of the real thing so that students can learn to understand these molecules and how they work; it's not a symbol for anything.

Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.
-1 Thessalonians 5:21

Giglio then shows the audience an actual photograph of a laminin molecule. This cherry-picked photograph looks very impressive to an already the hyped-up Christian audience, but we need to take a look at what Giglio purposefully did NOT show the audience, in order to assist them further in their climbing of Mount Emo.
Below are different photographs of the laminin molecule.
Notice the majority don't resemble a cross at all.

And based on Giglio's presentation, many companies have started a firestorm of "laminin" t-shirts and coffee mugs.

Though I don't show it here, they even sell men and women's laminin-cross underwear!

For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
-1 Timothy 6:10

"I love laminin! I'm so fired up!"

Does the Bible say that laminin is lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path?

Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
-Psalm 119:105

My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth. And hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him.
-1 John 3:18-19

If you read 1 John 3, it is saying that our expression of love should not be in words, but should be in deeds. This is not talking about God's Word, it is talking about the words from our mouths used in vanity. Giglio's emotional journey takes Christians on a path that does not seek truth, and loves in words and tongue, but not in deeds nor truth, and for me, red flags go up repeatedly watching his presentation. The love that Giglio is speaking of when he says the above phrase is NOT Biblical love.

The creation of symbols, and worship of them, is what the pagans do, and the Christians should have no part in it. Catholics, for example, have claimed the virgin Mary's face in a piece of burnt toast and made alters to it, and followers of Jesus Christ should have no part in that, nor should learn of it.

Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen.
-1 John 5:21

Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them.
-Jeremiah 10:2

Another strange thing about Giglio's presentation is his reading of scripture. I searched for Giglio's reading of Psalm 33, but after checking 37 Bible versions, I could find no version matching his entire quote. Let's look at his reading verse-by-verse:

@26:36 Giglio reads: "v.9For he spoke and it came to be, he commanded and it stood fast, v.13 from heaven, the lord looks down and sees all mankind, v.14 from his dwelling place he watches all who live on earth, v.15 he who forms the hearts of them all and is intimately acquainted with everything they do, v.18 the eyes of the lord are on those who fear him, on those who hope on his unfailing love, v.19 to deliver them from death and to keep them alive in famine."

The closest version I can find comes from the NIV. However, two of the six verses he quotes here do NOT match the NIV. For example, v.15:
NIV: "he who forms the hearts of all, who considers everything they do"
Giglio: "he who forms the hearts of them all, and is intimately acquainted with everything they do"

The only version I could find that used the term "intimately acquainted" was in the NASB, but it was from a completely different passage than what Giglio was referring to:
Psalm 139:3 (NASB) - "You scrutinize my path and my lying down, And are intimately acquainted with all my ways."

It appears that Giglio is cutting and pasting from different Bible versions AND passages to make it say what he wants it to say. This is a VERY DANGEROUS practice, and I encourage Christians to be extremely cautious of men who do this. Cutting/pasting Scripture is a VERY SERIOUS offense (Rev 22:18-19), and Giglio should be quivering in fear at what he's doing, but instead he openly walks around glorying in his shame.
(Read "Why I Use a King James Bible" here at creationliberty.com for more details)

Whose end [is] destruction, whose God [is their] belly, and [whose] glory [is] in their shame, who mind earthly things.
-Phillipians 3:19

I'm sure Louie Giglio is a man who sincerely loves his "god," but honestly it sounds like he has a different god than I do. My God does not approve of the idolizing of symbols like the pagans and heathens do. I'm also sure Giglio has the best of intentions in mind, but the road to hell is paved with good intentions, and a lot of money is made while building that road.

There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.
-Proverbs 14:12

We should not allow ourselves to be run by our emotions without first seeking the truth.

Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
-2 Timothy 2:15

The church of the new-age is bringing in "charismania," which is trying to "feel" God, instead of seek His Word. Even in the rare times the new-agers use a "bible," it's typically a corrupted one (or they corrupt it themselves, as Giglio has done), and they will pull out whatever interpretation pleases themselves, rather than looking to God as the final authority. As Jesus Christ told us, be ye not deceived, and I encourage all Christians everywhere to turn back to the Word of God as the ultimate authority and study of our lives, since faith cometh by the hearing of the Word (Rom 10:17), and to study the Word is to study God Himself. (John 1:1)
