He Expected His Ignorance and Inexperience To Be Helpful
« on: June 26, 2020, 04:33:44 PM »
I did not receive this guy's email until about three weeks after he sent it because it went into my spam folder. The awkward way he wrote it got the letter auto-flagged for spam by my email. To save room, I am condensing the amount of spacing this guy put between the lines.

JAMES FROM CA

I hope you are well and good!
Thank you for your information on 501 c3 Corporations.
I have two comments........hopefully.......helpful
I would recommend.......a new design and layout...... for website
Your website model..........is narrow and way outdated template.......
The title on your prolific and complete article is 'STRIKING'
I think this is too striking?...........perhaps knocking people out.......before engaging the content.
I assume your Godly goal is getting the Truth out and informing as many as possible.........to save/rescue lives from error and deception.
I would suggest a more invitational.......title.
Having the actual content read.........is the goal.
I invite you to pray........about these....points.

I apologize for taking so long to get back with you; your message was filtered into my spam folder, and I think it was because of the strange way you wrote and structured it. I did not see it until this morning.

I assume your godly goal is to set a better example, and that you would not have written to me without understanding of the matter, so you are welcome to send me your ministry's website and the article you wrote on the subject of 501c3 so I can see a better example of how things should be done. Go ahead and send me those and I will take a look at them.

Have a great day.

THE FOLLOWING RESPONSE WAS WRITTEN IN EXTREMELY LARGE FONT AND SPACED VERY STRANGE:

Hola Christopher Johnson,

Thank you for your reply in regards to my note to you. It is interesting that you requested to see my ministry website. I would gladly provide you with a view yet, it is offline and more than just that, I am now in the market for a new site development. The hosting service and provider of the site-template and all tools has discontinued its provision of the site template upon my renewal of the contract. This simply means the site is gone and irreplaceable. I loved the site, its layout, slide flash and features. Now, I am actually excited about what can be and the fresh and new and what the Lord has in view.

In my search I have seen some great galleries and demos and options. Here is a link from one of my searches if you might be interested now or in the future for a new site development.

In reference to my suggestion for an alternative title for your article on the 501c3 Church. Here is one idea.
The 501c3 Church: Facts and Findings 'Essential Knowledge for Every Church Leader and Member'

In everything What is Holy Spirit saying or showing you........ That is what is all important. If He is saying........Keep it as is........what you have
Then great......no other considerations are needed.
Thanks again for your reply.
May you have God's 'REST' in your Labor of Love,
In His Grace,
Your brother in Christ,
James

Well, the problem is that your emails are barely readable. You have not structured them well, and it's no wonder I keep getting spam warnings on your letters. If you do not know how to structure a basic email, how exactly do you think you understand what needs to be done with a website?

Furthermore, you said your website is mostly down. Mine is mostly up. What made you believe that you were going to know how to give advice to someone else when you don't have a working website?

Also, I did not ask you to send me a list of website designers. I built my site from scratch by hand (i.e. coding and writing by hand in HTML, CSS, and PHP), and you send me a list of pre-designed orders to pay for? Are you going to pay a salary for someone to maintain our website every year so I don't have to worry about it? I doubt it, but the fact is that I do not have that kind of money. So, are you just having a one-sided conversation by yourself?

Even worse, I did not ask you to send me your suggestions for a title. I asked you to send me YOUR teaching on 501c3 so I could look at it. Let me guess: You don't have one do you? That makes sense now.

So in summary, you have no website experience, you do not have an online ministry, you don't write anything because you don't teach on these topics, what you have shown me so far in your emails is terrible, you have no intention of understanding because you don't ask any questions, but despite all this, you think you have the experience and knowledge to judge what I am doing and writing (after I have spent 11 years in ministry) without asking me a single question about WHY I'm doing it that way?

James, I do not have time for this. You are not having a conversation with me, you are talking AT me, and you are doing so without understanding. As you said in your first letter: "I invite you to pray about these points." I am not changing everything around to suit your personal preferences, but if you ever want to understand the matter, you are always welcome to ask me why, instead of assuming whatever you personally think is automatically the "Holy Spirit." If you do not like our ministry, there are plenty of others out there. I hope you find what is best for you and your family, I hope you depart from our ministry in peace, and I hope you have a great day.

END OF DISCUSSION

James did not write back, which makes sense because even if he did, he would likely not respond with anything logical or reasonable; he would likely respond in a "how-dare-you" type of manner. Although, I did not check my spam folder, so I don't know for sure if he did not respond now that I think about it.

After responding to this, I created an FAQ section to answer people who complain about the titles to my teachings. You can find it here: http://creationliberty.com/faq.php#changetitle

I guess it never ceases to amaze me how many times I ask someone questions in email, and I do not get an answer to my question. I think it would be interesting to go through all the back emails I have published here, and see what percentage of my questions get answered.

Lorraine took a look at this, and she suspected he did not read the 501c3 book. The more I thought about it, the more I am became convinced she was right; I'm not sure he read it either.

It should also be noted that I had already changed the logo on the website weeks before I saw his email, so this had no effect on the changes we made.

One of the oddest things I noticed was that he wrote "God's 'REST'" -- he put 'rest' in all caps, and then put it in quotations. I have no idea what he meant by adding those modifiers onto the word; anyone's guess is as good as mine I suppose, at least when it comes to the rambling of someone who has no understanding or experience on this matter.
The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.

I like the titles of your books and articles.  They are appropriate.

Though one shouldn't judge a book by it's cover, the cover of a book ought to give a sense of its contents.
To provide a soft title on a sharp work of literature would be deceptive.
Nehemiah 8:8 KJV — So they read in the book in the law of God distinctly, and gave the sense, and caused them to understand the reading.

Lorraine and I agree.

Or by definition, click bait.
And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. Genesis 1:26 Who can say that man is an animal?

No, click bait is more usually a sensational title for something relatively boring or at least deceptive of the actual content.

Well, let's make sure we define that:
click bait (n): something (such as a headline) designed to make readers want to click on a hyperlink especially when the link leads to content of dubious value or interest

Technically, I have to defend Caleb's analysis, because a soft title to a sharp teaching would be content that baits people to a link that "leads to content of dubious value." When I first read his analysis last night, I started to object, but then I thought about it more, and I think he was technically correct. That's why I wanted to define click bait, so we can all understand that it works both ways, positive to negative, and negative to positive, because it is essentially bait-and-switch.
The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.

it is essentially bait-and-switch.

"Click-bait-and-switch"
Nehemiah 8:8 KJV — So they read in the book in the law of God distinctly, and gave the sense, and caused them to understand the reading.
