I also needed to add how I enjoyed the part where you show the website and how to find the book.     That was neat for those who can see it.

In context, Jo did not understand the matter at hand. She did not understand why she was being arrested. She seemed to more understand what the judge was saying to her, but not what Kent was saying to her. She was arrested because of HIS actions, not hers. She was being forced to send letters she did not want to send at HIS command.

And then he tells her that she needs to adapt while she is incarcerated, and her first thought was not getting out of prison, rather, her first thought was their marriage.

That should begin to tell you everything you need to know about Kent.

Kent: Maybe I need to change, or maybe you need to change and accept it. Just say, Hey that's the way he is, that's the way God made him, so I'm going to love him that way. I mean, that's the other hope. Your hope is always that I will change. Maybe your hope ought to be that you will adapt. That's another option you know.


It's terrible that he starts off by suggesting that maybe he needs to change, but then spins it back at Jo, suggesting she might need to change and accept it. Even worse is that he suggests that God made him the way he is and that she should love him that way. It's easy to see he feels he is not at fault and does not look inwardly at himself.

Well, it's not that he suggested both that was the problem, but it's that he suggested that maybe he needs to change, and then 0.4 seconds later said she needs to adapt, and then spent a long time explaining her problems, instead of looking inwardly at himself first. He gave no explanation on why "maybe he needs to change," which means they were words of vanity. He didn't mean them, and therefore it was deception, not reasoning.

The phrase 'God made me this way' is just an excuse to justify sin and then turn around and blame God for his wickedness! I've heard homosexuals use the same argument to justify their lifestyle.
