Our pets in heaven
« on: December 24, 2022, 09:59:25 PM »
I have a dear dog who’s 21 years old. She’s at the end, and im struggling with the decision to put her down. On one hand I believe it’s God’s business, on the other hand He’s given us dominion over them. It’s very hard decision to make. Id sure appreciate your thoughts

???

Was there a question in there somewhere? Our thoughts on what exactly?

Im not sure whether I should do it, or not. Was just wondering if anyone here has had to, and what they thought about it.

This is a very confusing post because, first of all, I have no idea why it is called "Our pets in heaven." Do you believe that animals have an eternal soul? ??? If so, would you give your Scriptural backing to that idea?

Furthermore, the word 'should' implies necessity. (e.g. "Im not sure whether I should do it") Thus, it sounds like you are posing a moral dilemma. If we are discussing right vs wrong on a particular subject, I'm uncertain what Scripture you are wanting to discuss about such a matter, or rather, what sin are you referring to concerning what you "should" do?

Im sorry, didn’t intend to confuse anyone. Admittedly, my title for the thread are not words well placed. No, i do not believe animals have souls.  I suppose i was just wanting to share my experience with someone who perhaps, had experienced the same thing because i never have. My apologies, and you can remove my post.

Why are you now wanting to remove the post? That doesn't make any sense. You don't have to give up.

If that's all you wanted, then that's all you needed to say. Just write, "I'm struggling with this because it's a pet that I've loved for 21 years; has anyone else had go through this? If so, what did you guys do?"

That would make much more sense. :)

The sad part about people having pets.  The day will come one day when the pet has reached the end of it's life, it might take a long time, but eventually that day will come.
And the remnant of Jacob shall be in the midst of many people as a dew from the Lord, as the showers upon the grass, that tarrieth not for man, nor waiteth for the sons of men.  Micah 5:7 Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)

What type of little dog do you have?
Nehemiah 8:8 KJV — So they read in the book in the law of God distinctly, and gave the sense, and caused them to understand the reading.

She’s a mixed breed with yellow lab in her. This is my first time having to make this decision. Her kidneys are shutting down, she’s arthritic, she can’t control her bowels, and dementia appears to be setting in. She was perfectly healthy until 9 months ago. I don’t think it’s time to put her down yet, but it’s close. She doesn’t appear to be in pain, but how can you be sure?

You can tell they are in pain when they simply won't move around much. A dog may sometimes get nippy when you try to handle them.

I've had it put down a couple of dog over the years. It's difficult every time.
