How Churchgoers see repentance in a nutshell
« on: May 25, 2021, 10:04:49 AM »
I found this article recently on the CMI website and it sums up how the churchgoers fumble with the idea of repentance. Case in point, they claim that repentance means to turn, they don't say that directly but they imply it to be that way. The comments are filled with contradictory beliefs like playing the greek game or just using it to mean to turn.

β€œFor godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.” 2 Corinthian 7:10

What part of this is so hard to understand?
Repentance is needed to bring salvation and it is given by God through sorrow. Grief and Godly sorrow is repentance to be precise but every one of the churchgoers doesn't or can't understand this.

Here is the Article:

And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. Genesis 1:26 Who can say that man is an animal?

Humility.
That is all but a four-letter-word to a "faithful" religious person.

Psalm 34:18 KJV β€” The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.
Nehemiah 8:8 KJV β€” So they read in the book in the law of God distinctly, and gave the sense, and caused them to understand the reading.

Very true and the word contrite needs to be used more these days because of how important it is.
And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. Genesis 1:26 Who can say that man is an animal?

The doctrine of repentance is certainly the line drawn in the sand when it comes to Christians and churchgoers. Hey when you brought up the greek game i thought of the old preacher and the church i first went to he said something like "the greek word for continue is" insert greek word here "and that means continue to continue, continue forever, continue to infinity!!!!" so basically the guy meant the greek word means continue haha.
