Where is lying = hatred?
« on: April 08, 2019, 09:45:13 AM »
I know that the Bible says the to lie to someone is to hate them, but I can't find it right now.
Can anyone point out that verse please?
Nehemiah 8:8 KJV — So they read in the book in the law of God distinctly, and gave the sense, and caused them to understand the reading.

A lying tongue hateth those that are afflicted by it; and a flattering mouth worketh ruin.
-Pro 26:28
Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.
-1Jo 3:15

It's not just hatred; once you connect the verses, God says that afflicted (i.e. grieving or paining) others with lies is the equivalent of murder in His sight.
The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.
-Psa 34:18

What Chris said is better.  I was thinking Matthew 24:10:
And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.
But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. Matthew 9:13
