Introduce Yourself / Re: Hello (WOG aka Jeff Thread)
« on: January 05, 2020, 09:31:16 AM »
I want to make the beginning part of the conversation between Chris and I available, because I be quoting it later.

When I started this conversation I never intended to condone all of Jeff's behavior, but rather to hopefully illustrate there was a simple miscommunication that got out of hand.  I believe the full conversation reveals this as true.  I'm still working on the rest of my answer.  However, I wanted to accomplish this step before dedicating a lot of resources to an answer that I wouldn't be able to post.

My current edification number is at 1

Below you will find an exchange between Timothy and I that made it possible for me to post this.  Thank you Timothy on the tip about using Notepad, it is a helpful tip.

Attached is a zip folder with two Word documents (compilation of the exchange between Chris and I)

Just a quick question:
Do you expect me to answer all that Chis has charged? It's a lot to write and it will take a long time.  So if I put in the time and you don't like the answer will I even be able to post it?  Chris wanted to have our discussion open to the public then takes my ability to post away.  Talk about an unfair advantage.  If you want me to agree to only address the topic of Jeff's intro I can do that.
To be clear "There is no reply button again"

No. You don't have to answer everything in one post, but I would ask that you try to do as much as you can in as few posts as possible. Chris took the time to answer your emails one at a time and you can make yours all one post. The best thing to do is write it all in notepad and copy and paste it on the forum when you are ready so that you aren't timed out and lose all your progress. You can spend that time posting it to add underlines, bold, etc. if you have all your answer typed out already. Don't use things like Microsoft Word. Just use notepad because MS Word has characters that the forum does not recognize and will cut off your post.
I never said I needed to know what you are posting before you post it. So I can't not like it before you post it to keep you from posting it. If you can't post it, like I said I will do what I can to make sure that you can reply. Are you ready to post your answer? If not, let me know when you are ready.

I would like to make the the entire conversation available to the group as it occurred.  I have compiled the conversation onto 2 word documents that could be attached to a post. If permitted I could get that done now.  I'll attach them so you'll know what I'm talking about.

Yes, I'm working on that response you want to see.  Just so it is clear, my ability to reply was stricken for some time today.  I did send private messages trying to get it fixed.   The "reply" button was missing so I was trying to get it fixed.  Thank you Timothy for getting my ability to reply up and working again.  At the time I post this my edification number stands a 2.

This CLE Forum groups has been on my mind a lot lately.  I have limited computer time each day and it occurred to me that in a matter of a few minuets I could attach a compilation of the short stories I've written.  These stories were mainly written for political prisoners here in the United States, but I wanted to share them with all of you at this time.   As a side note my edification umber is currently at a 4.  My edification number was a 5 prior to the last post I made.

I want to make this post for a couple reasons.  First to acknowledge my awareness that Chris has put a portion of our conversation in this public venue.  Second to put all on notice that if permitted I will speak further on this topic.  However, there will be some lag time before my full response is posted.

Greetings,
One of my prison pen pals has ask me why we don't abide by the dietary laws of the Old Testament.  I don't feel comfortable teaching him on this subject and was wondering if there is an easy to go to study on this subject that you might direct me to?

Bible Discussion / Scofield refrence Bible for prisoners
« on: June 21, 2019, 10:34:52 AM »
Greetings to lovers of The Lord Jesus I would like to ask for assistance.  I communicate with several prisoners.  It appears to be that prisoners can easily obtain very high quality Scofield Reference Bibles for free from various places.  I'm looking for a small paperback book of even just an article that I can send to prisoners to warn them about the Scofield Reference Bible.  Books to prisoners can only come from book sellers.  When possible I like to get in contact with authors directly because they will often times be able to provide their book(s) at about 1/2 the normal price.  In my search for the above mentioned materials I ran across a web site called jesusissavior.com this site had a small blurb about the heresies in the SRB, and mentioned the title of a book "The Incredible Scofield and His Book" the blurb also indicated the book was available through that ministry.  However, I couldn't find any contact info on that website jesusissavior.com.  I'm wondering if any have had dealings with that ministry?

Hi Samual, I can tell you that on a thread like this one you won't find a reply button to a specific comment.  However you can use the "Insert Quote" feature which places text from a previous post into the post you are making.

There is also a private message part of the forum.  Mine was disabled early on and may have been restored, I haven't checked.  By clicking a persons name you can see various aspects of their interaction on the forum.  It will let you know who is very active and those that are less active on the forum.

Praise to the Creator of Heaven and Earth for who He is and His power and faithfulness

General Discussion / Re: Is it a sin to eat a rare steak?
« on: February 05, 2019, 02:27:06 PM »
Thanks Kevin for taking the time to add that information.  Based on what I previously learned and concluded and this new information provided I'm okay with eating meat that is cooked through.  When it comes to the meats I butcher the best cooking method is a low heat (210 Deg F to 220 Deg F) for long periods (10 plus hours).  One thing that does come to mind though would be cured meats like jerky.  I would certainly not be interested in buying jerky but If I were able to learn the process would there be an exceptable way to prepare jerky?  It's been over 5 years since I had jerky and I'm doing fine without it so unless there is an easy clear answer, I'm okay to just abstain from that food.

This topic is of interest to me.  I was under the impression that cooking meat took care of the blood issue.  However, I'm not remembering how I arrived at that concept.  Basically I have the same question as Chris.  I usually eat the meat I personally raise and butcher myself.  I do allow the animals to bleed out until their heart stops.  Even having bled the animal as perfectly as possible blood will continue to drain from the muscle tissue until the cooking process is to the stage I would consider complete.

Bible Discussion / Re: King James Translators to the Reader
« on: January 01, 2019, 02:20:30 PM »
Chris, I am from Russia and read in both English and Russian. What can you say about Russian translations? Only folks in English speaking countries read KJV, others read translations in Vietnamese, Polish, Norwegian, Japanese, Arabic, etc. Can we say that they read something that is not in preserved translations since they are not authorized KJV?

Jason, I can't answer your question but I can tell you about something I learned.  I was listening to a sermon by Sam Adams and he referenced an article by Dr. John Hinton.  The article was titled "Ridiculous KJV Bible Correction:Who is Yahweh?".  I wanted to share the article with my prison pen pals but first sought permission from Dr. Hinton.  In the process I learned Dr. Hinton is heavily involved in making KJV equivalent Bibles available in various languages.  Dr. Hinton's email address is posted on line.  If you do an online search "Who is Yahweh? - Ridiculous KJV Bible Corrections" you should be able to get his e-mail address.

Thomas, my conclusion is: I don't believe I'm gifted with the resources to be a teacher to the sheep at least at this time.  I believe I'm more of a workman and student.  I want to make it known that if I question the way God's word is applied in the future I'll certainly ask questions rather than assert my conclusions.

Ecclesiastes 5:7 (KJV)  For in the multitude of dreams and many words there are also divers vanities: but fear thou God.

Quote
Would it be correct to conclude there is an analogy, in Ecc 5:7, made between "multitude of dreams" and "many words"?

What do you mean by analogy?
The verse connects them using "and"
I guess I'm asking whats your point in concluding there is an analogy between the two?

Thomas thank you for correcting me on terminology.  I wrote "analogy" but what I meant was "similitude".  What a difference that makes.  Sorry everyone for that miss use of terms.

Bible Discussion / Re: Why Do I Have Scary Dreams?
« on: December 30, 2018, 09:19:10 PM »
I've been giving the option to repent or move on for the offense of false teaching.  For this reason I have taken a serious look into the disagreement.  I have concluded I was in error with my initial post on this topic.  When I made my initial post I didn't fully consider the gravity of the situation.  Nor did I expect some to think I was trying to teach.  I have learned from this and will be more careful in the future just as the passage we are studying commands.  My original purpose was to share that I did not believe the passage in question was for the purpose of addressing why one has scary dreams.  I believed that by using the words "Ecc 5:3 tells me" I would not be forcing my understanding on others.  Clearly I was in error.  It does grieve me that so much time was spent on explanations do to my carelessness with words.  Had I stated my thoughts as a question the conversation could have been more edifying.  An example could be: How can one understand the passage as a whole (Ecc 5;1-7), using a definition like [The thought or series of thoughts of a person in sleep. A dream is a series of thoughts not under the command of reason, and hence wild and irregular.] for the word "dream" when in verse 7 there is correlation between "many words" which we can control and "multitude of dreams" which by the definition offered is out of one's control?

Then after carelessly entering the discussion I continued down the same path of apathy after being question on how I came to my conclusion.  Rather than fully engage the question in a workman like spirit I just offered a quick answer to an important question.  "Where did you get your definitions?"  I did copy and paste from a Webster 1828, as a shortcut to an explanation on how the context of the passage Ecc 5:1-7 cause me to believe the definitions for "dream" and "business" were different than what had been previously offered.  A better approach would have been to ask a series of questions regarding the passage.

Would it be correct to conclude that "multitude" and "many" are synonyms and the two are antonyms of "few"?

Would it be correct to conclude that we are warned against a "multitude" or "many" words?

Would it be correct to conclude that we have control of our words?

Would it be correct to conclude there is an analogy, in Ecc 5:7, made between "multitude of dreams" and "many words"?

Mr. Johnson, If you are leveling an accusation that you expect an answer to, I will submit and answer the accusation.  I will note that I have read your posts on this matter and I do not accept that Ecc 5:3 should be applied to why a person has scary dreams and further I believe the word "dream" in Ecc 5:1-7 is referring to something other than the visions a person has at night during sleep.  Having said that, if you wish to have the last word I'm okay with that and unless you demand an answer to an accusation I'm willing to let this matter rest.  I believe there are more important issues to spend time on.

I believe Ecc 5:1-7 all share the same context.  In this passage the word "dream" is used twice.  I believe the word has the same meaning in both instances and the meaning is: to be engaged in vain thoughts that don't pertain to the service of our Lord. I cannot reason in a fashion that would allow the use of the word "dream" in these instances to be related to sleeping like we generally do in bed at night.
