Dan,

What do you think of some of the verses I shared that talk about repentance for the remission of sins? Also, how would you define repentance?

Hi Dan,

I think Jesus Christ himself set the perfect example for evangelizing to the lost, as that was what he spent most of His time doing. Scripture tells us:

Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
-Galatians 3:24

Using God’s commandments to convict people of their sin is the only way to bring someone to repentance (grief and godly sorrow of wrongdoing) and explain why they are in need of a Savior. So delivering a message that includes the law and then the sacrifice Jesus made on the cross for our redemption would be the best formula according to Scripture. The message of repentance and remission of sins is what the disciples and apostles all taught as well.

John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins.

-Mark 1:4

From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.
-Matthew 4:17

And he called unto him the twelve, and began to send them forth by two and two; and gave them power over unclean spirits... And they went out, and preached that men should repent.

-Mark 6:7-12

Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
-Acts 2:38

But shewed first unto them of Damascus, and at Jerusalem, and throughout all the coasts of Judea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, and do works meet for repentance.
-Acts 26:20

Also, Kenneth has a street preaching ministry on YouTube called Teach All Nations and he would be another good example to follow.

https://m.youtube.com/@TeachAllNations

I must ask though, how do you think people are saved?

Bible Discussion / Re: Evil Spirits & Souls Passing Through Water
« on: October 22, 2022, 08:58:50 AM »
This has been an interesting read. To go along with what others have said about the dead in the sea being those who died there, this description in Revelation 8 also points to even more people dying in the water in the last times:

8 And the second angel sounded, and as it were a great mountain burning with fire was cast into the sea: and the third part of the sea became blood; 9 And the third part of the creatures which were in the sea, and had life, died; and the third part of the ships were destroyed. 10 And the third angel sounded, and there fell a great star from heaven, burning as it were a lamp, and it fell upon the third part of the rivers, and upon the fountains of waters; 11 And the name of the star is called Wormwood: and the third part of the waters became wormwood; and many men died of the waters, because they were made bitter.
-Revelation 8:8-11

At the bottom of his posts it says he is the “President @ bibleschool.edu.” I went to their website - it’s a school for Pastors in Indiana. Here is a bit from their page on salvation. It’s the typical churchianity speech, works-based doctrine of repentance, and the sinners prayer for salvation.

Quote
Jesus paid the price for your sin and mine by giving His life on a cross at a place called Calvary, just outside of the city walls of Jerusalem in ancient Israel. God brought Jesus back from the dead. He provided the way for you to have a personal relationship with Him through Jesus. When we realize how deeply our sin grieves the heart of God and how desperately we need a Saviour, we are ready to receive God's offer of salvation. To admit we are sinners means turning away from our sin and selfishness and turning to follow Jesus. The Bible word for this is "repentance" - to change our thinking about how grievous sin is, so our thinking is in line with God's.

All that's left for you to do is to accept the gift that Jesus is holding out for you right now.

"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." Romans 10:9-10

God says that if you believe in His son, Jesus, you can live forever with Him in glory.

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. " John 3:16

Are you ready to accept the gift of eternal life that Jesus is offering you right now? Let's review what this commitment involves:

I acknowledge I am a sinner in need of a Savior.
I believe that Jesus died on the cross to pay the full penalty for my sins.
I believe that God raised Jesus from the dead.
I confess Jesus as my Lord and my God knowing that I can NOT save myself.
I receive Jesus as my Savior forever - this is to accept that God has done for me and in me what He promised

If it is your sincere desire to receive Jesus into your heart as your personal Lord and Savior, then talk to God from your heart:

Here's a Suggested Prayer:

"Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner and I do not deserve eternal life. But, I believe You died and rose from the grave to make me a new creation and to prepare me to dwell in your presence forever. Jesus, come into my life, forgive my sins and save me. I am now placing my trust in You alone for my salvation and I accept your free gift of eternal life."

I forgot to mention, if you’d like your Scripture quotes to appear in blue italics like you see in the other posts here, just highlight the verses and click on the little Bible icon located above the text box you type your message in. It’s a few over to the right of the bold, italic, underline, etc. buttons.  :)

Hello and welcome, Sam!

I enjoyed reading your testimony. Thank God He brought you here! It’s always interesting to hear how people come to find CLE. I can empathize with a lot of what you said. I came from a “churchianity” upbringing as well and my husband is not saved. Although he claims to believe on Jesus, he is a false convert, so I too struggle with the repercussions of choosing to obey Christ over him when matters conflict with His word or I am convicted in a certain way. I pray for courage and wisdom for us wives to know how to handle such situations with patience, meekness, charity, and long suffering. I also pray that we can sanctify ourselves from the world and be a testimony to our unbelieving spouses. This tread and the Scripture that has been shared has been very edifying. I look forward to fellowship with you and learning together in Christ.

12 Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;
13 Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.
14 And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.
15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.
16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.
18 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord.
19 Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them.
20 Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord.
21 Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged.
22 Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh; not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God:
23 And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;
24 Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.
25 But he that doeth wrong shall receive for the wrong which he hath done: and there is no respect of persons.
-Colossians 3:12-25

Wild Emails @ CLE / Re: Deliverance Ministries Are Not of God

Quote
You love your opinion so much that you make your opinion reality! And anyone who deviates from the reality you enforce is a "pagan". You love your own opinion so much, you hate what I tried to tell you about perceptions. To you, there is only one perception. Your perception. That's what I'm getting from you, because your arguments are based on your opinions, not any facts.

She is guilty of doing exactly what she is accusing you of doing. You are quoting her own words and providing Scripture, and she is only sharing her feelings. Her questions even started with the words “have you ever felt...”. The feelings we should be concerned about are if we feel grief and sorrow over our wrongdoings. I can see clearly now what the Bible means when His word is written in such a way that those who do not have an understanding will stumble and fall backward.

But the word of the LORD was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken.
-Isaiah 28:13

I hope she comes to a realization of the truth, departs from the dangerous doctrine she has been taught and accepts the gift of salvation that awaits if she humbles herself before the Lord.

Introduce Yourself / Re: "...and the truth shall make you free"

Hi Steven,

Welcome to the forum. I think it's great that you have taken an interest in finding the truth of God's word. I want to encourage you to pray to the Lord Jesus Christ for understanding and repentance, as it is only He that unlocks our understanding of Scripture and gives us repentance unto salvation. Keep reading your Bible and studying. Christopher's teaching are very helpful too. The others have already provided recommendations for a good place to start. If you have questions or want to discuss a certain topic, there are many Christians on here who have knowledge of the truth.

But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.
- James 4:6

Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart. But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes. And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.
- 2 Timothy 2:22-26

Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
- Matthew 7:7-8

If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.
- James 1:5-7

Sadly, no. Indiana has vaccine exemptions that allow unvaccinated children in public/private schools. He said I can homeschool preschool. It would be wonderful if I could continue after that, but as of now, he is totally against it. It is something I pray about frequently.

This is great news! Thank you for sharing. Del Bigtree/The Highwire is a major voice for exposing the truth about vaccines and in fighting against disastrous public health policy and legislation. At the moment, the only way my husband will allow me to homeschool is if vaccines are required for school and there are no applicable exemptions in our state.

Law/Legal / Re: A Taste of What is Coming on Jan 6th
« on: January 07, 2021, 01:49:26 PM »
I am currently reading in 2 Samuel. I re-read a few chapters this morning, as I read each one two or more times before moving on. The first chapter I read after moving on was Chapter 22. Below are a few verses that stood out to me.

1 And David spake unto the LORD the words of this song in the day that the LORD had delivered him out of the hand of all his enemies, and out of the hand of Saul:
2 And he said, The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer;
3 The God of my rock; in him will I trust: he is my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, my saviour; thou savest me from violence.
4 I will call on the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.
5 When the waves of death compassed me, the floods of ungodly men made me afraid;
6 The sorrows of hell compassed me about; the snares of death prevented me;
7 In my distress I called upon the LORD, and cried to my God: and he did hear my voice out of his temple, and my cry did enter into his ears.

18 He delivered me from my strong enemy, and from them that hated me: for they were too strong for me.
19 They prevented me in the day of my calamity: but the LORD was my stay.

28 And the afflicted people thou wilt save: but thine eyes are upon the haughty, that thou mayest bring them down.
29 For thou art my lamp, O LORD: and the LORD will lighten my darkness.

30 For by thee I have run through a troop: by my God have I leaped over a wall.
31 As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all them that trust in him.
32 For who is God, save the LORD? and who is a rock, save our God?
33 God is my strength and power: and he maketh my way perfect.

47 The LORD liveth; and blessed be my rock; and exalted be the God of the rock of my salvation.
48 It is God that avengeth me, and that bringeth down the people under me,
49 And that bringeth me forth from mine enemies: thou also hast lifted me up on high above them that rose up against me: thou hast delivered me from the violent man.
50 Therefore I will give thanks unto thee, O LORD, among the heathen, and I will sing praises unto thy name.

51 He is the tower of salvation for his king: and sheweth mercy to his anointed, unto David, and to his seed for evermore.

General Discussion / Re: Wind & Solar Are Not As Good As You Might Think
« on: December 30, 2020, 07:32:10 AM »
Kevin, I agree with you. I only shared it because it was recently sent to me and fell right in line with the subject Christopher started. I have not studied this at all and have no plans to, but thought Loraine might like to see it since Christopher said she is heavily interested in this topic. Since I have no further understanding of it, I just asked for your thoughts as I was not sure if the information was accurate. I certainly do not want it to distract anyone from studying the Gospel or from sharing what truly matters.

Someone recently sent me a video titled Unobtanium without any clear indication of the topic (at least to my uninformed self) and when I clicked on it, the first thing it mentioned was the movie Avatar. I did not want to watch anything about that movie so I quickly closed it. I later decided to see what exactly it was about so I could properly respond that I had no interest in such things and why. It turns out the video is about what we are sold as renewable energy: wind, solar, and battery. I have not studied this at all and it sounds like Lorraine and Kevin have, so I would be interested to hear your thoughts on what is presented. It seems to align with the message of the video Christopher posted above, debunking what we have been told by the world about such energy sources.

I cannot seem to get the attachment to open up on my phone (and my computer is being worked on), so if others have the same issue, I found the video on YouTube:

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=RqppRC37OgI&feature=youtu.be

Kevin, those are both good points. It makes my original statement without sufficient evidence even more foolish, as I had forgotten about the uniform of the priests in the OT. In the end, none of it will matter though, as you mentioned they will all fall under the control of the final antichrist; which is why I didn't think it would be worth the time to look into further.

16
I should have made it clear in my post that I did not do research on the Pope and bishop hats specifically; I only saw images such as this one that made a visual comparison. I should have also worded it as a question to consider instead of a statement of truth. It just seemed to fall in line with the pagan influence of the Catholic Church, but I may have made a foolish presumption, drawing a connection without proper evidence. I am sorry for not considering this prior to posting. I do not feel like it is worth my time to investigate, so if anyone is aware of the history and I am wrong, please correct me.

17
While listening to Christopher talk about the Pope's hat in this teaching, it reminded me of an image I saw while researching Catholicism and other "denominations" several years ago. The image was a comparison of the Pope's hat to one that a pagan fish god wore. I Google searched "pope mitre" and the second search suggestion that popped up was "pope mitre dagon". I could not remember what "dagon" was, but it sounded familiar so I clicked on that one. The attached image was one that came up and I showed it to my husband. As I read the description I realized that Dagon is actually the name of the pagan fish god and a lightbulb went off in my head - I had just finished reading 1 Samuel and remembered it mentioning Dagon. I couldn't remember which chapter it was in, so I did a search and found that not only was he mentioned in 1 Samuel but Judges as well.

Then the lords of the Philistines gathered them together for to offer a great sacrifice unto Dagon their god, and to rejoice: for they said, Our god hath delivered Samson our enemy into our hand.
-Judges 16:23

And the Philistines took the ark of God, and brought it from Ebenezer unto Ashdod. When the Philistines took the ark of God, they brought it into the house of Dagon, and set it by Dagon. And when they of Ashdod arose early on the morrow, behold, Dagon was fallen upon his face to the earth before the ark of the LORD. And they took Dagon, and set him in his place again. And when they arose early on the morrow morning, behold, Dagon was fallen upon his face to the ground before the ark of the LORD; and the head of Dagon and both the palms of his hands were cut off upon the threshold; only the stump of Dagon was left to him. Therefore neither the priests of Dagon, nor any that come into Dagon's house, tread on the threshold of Dagon in Ashdod unto this day.
-1 Samuel 5:1-5

I do not expect this to post generate much discussion, but thought I would share as I found it interesting that the very same pagan influence of the Catholic Church is mentioned right in the Bible! They no longer call him Dagon, but they certainly continue to worship a god who looks strikingly similar, only he is not made of wood, gold, or stone and goes by a new name - the Pope. This is one of many examples of the wonderful instruction God has provided for us to identify and mark those who oppose the Lord and walk as wolves in sheep's clothing, but the funny thing is, this is not hidden, as Christopher said, the Pope's title, Vicar of Christ (antichrist), "is so overt it's covert!"

Introduce Yourself / Re: Saved out of the Catholic Cult !
« on: October 30, 2020, 04:42:29 PM »
Welcome, Barb! I'm glad that you have come out from the depths of Catholicism to be renewed in Christ. It sounds like you have done a lot of searching and studying. Do you remember what brought you to the CLE website?

Hi, I'm Barb from Florida. I was born into a Catholic family of multiple generations, went to Catholic schools, attended their rituals every Sunday except during my college wild days. Married in a Catholic church building according to their rituals & raised my 4 kids strictly Catholic too, even so much as all 4 of them were altar servers (old terminology was altar boys, but my oldest is a girl!) and I was the altar servers coordinator for our church. (I hate using "church" to describe their pagan temples, but I do so in the common, deceived sense). I also used to teach infant baptism classes, held Catholic marriage meeting groups in our home, went on several Catholic retreats, etc. I was in pretty deep.

Your testimony is proof of God's great power and mercy! It gives me renewed hope that even those who are lost, entrenched in false doctrine, can still come to repentance and faith in Christ.

Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven. And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God. When his disciples heard it, they were exceedingly amazed, saying, Who then can be saved? But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.
Matthew 19:23-26

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
Romans 12:2

Hello and welcome, David. Praise the Lord for bringing you out of deception! I found your comments on baptism with fire interesting, as I have never heard of that before. These statements stuck out to me:

As I continue to grow in my understanding, I am so thankful for a foundation built on repentance.  I had to dump the garbage I once believed but it really was not that difficult because the Lord opened my eyes and ears to see and hear His truth.

As many of you can relate, my current struggles come mostly from within my own family.

Once the Holy Spirit reveals the truth to us, we no longer feel the same towards our traditions, rather it is our flesh and the flesh of others that we continue to war against. Matthew 37 comes to mind and I have a feeling most of us on the forum can relate.

Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. And a man's foes shall be they of his own household. He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me. He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it. He that receiveth you receiveth me, and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me.
Matthew 37:34-40
