hmm, I`m still here. How unfortunate. These attacks of yours are completely unmerited and they are unchristian. You are like a woman in the proverb who destroys her own house. Your attempt at ministry will not prosper so long as you go around presenting yourself to new members the way you have me. And others as well. I`ve read some your posts and before I wrote my own introduction. Meanspirited and I can tell you now I had some concerns about you from the beginning. I was just hoping that you would see the value in my posts but its pretty clear now that you aren`t interested in having anyone else here knowledgeable in the scriptures.

I answred maybe 2 old posts but I answred old ones because there isn`t much meat on this bone. Your forum is not far removed from being dead and posts suitable for my interests weren`t very plentiful. It`s a shame really because your beliefs and mine are pretty close. Still you are clearly too meanspirited for me to work with.
And you seriously need to show me how to resign my membership or do it for me. We are done.

ok. where do I go to sign out of this squad? You are not of God. take me off this list

1 Corinthians 13 King James Version (KJV)
13 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.

2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.

3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.

4 Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,

5 Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;

The trinity article led to an article on Christmas.  Christmas originated with the Roman Saturnalia  festival which was the most important holiday in pagan Rome. As Rome adopted Christianity it Christianized Saturnalia. The first historical reference to 12-25 as the Birthday of Christ was in 354 AD

If we can do it without anyone getting mad at me I would be game to answer questions about the book of Revelation.
The problem is not anyone "getting mad" at answering questions about Revelation. The problem is that when a new person shows up on this forum, before we've had a chance to find out what their true beliefs and doctrine are (especially with someone like yourself who made a strangely suspicious introduction post as vague as yours without any testimony of repentance and remission in Christ), and one of the first things that person wants to discuss is Revelation, it's not only dangerous, it ends poorly every time.

I made the offer because her questions appeared to be unanswered and Bible prophecy has been my hobby since I was 17.

I`m not sure what you mean by "a strangely suspicious introduction post" or why it`s necessary for you to call my introduction "vague"but I don`t see that as a good way to introduce yourself to a brother.

The introduction was a little short because I wanted to get it done and read what is on your forum. To answer that one I`m a fundamentalist and I believe in repentance, I wasn`t out to be vague. Also of note, I made posts on several of your topics not just this question on Revelation.

Accusations of Modalism are just a way to force you to use the term person. A modalist is a person who believe God exists in one form at a time. Such a person must deny the Father or the Son and qualifies to be considered anti christ according to the 1st epistle of John.

But anyone dissenting from the Catholic trinity doctrine is going to get called a modalist by Catholic style trinitarians.

Myself, I don`t like using the term person but I don`t think it`s necessary to criticize someone who does as long as they acknowledge that God is One. God as Triune is found throughout the Old Testament if you know what you are looking for. It`s easier to discern for people who can read Hebrew and they have less issue with God being both One and Triune. The Hebrew style comes through in the translation and it`s pretty easy to see when you know what I mean by that.

I retired from it several years ago but for about 5 years I was an active debator on religeous issues. I learned a lot more about the gospel during that time then I expected to initially. Eventually I got burned out on it.

Anyway, I had discussions with some pretty knowlegable Catholics on a few occaisions. What I found was that when they couldn`t prove their assertions with the Bible they would insist on quoting what they called the early church fathers and they wanted to give them the same authority as my King James. Since I couldn`t get anywhere with them I did a crash study on some of these writings which are early Catholic writings. I studied the oldest ones and found a suprising amount of things that i could use in debating modern Catholic doctrines.

One was this. I have issue with catholic trinity doctrine and the early church writers wrote in Latin. The Latin word for a person is Homo. However when these early Catholics wrote abouty God as a trinity they used the word persona instead of the word homo. The modern word person is derived from the Latin word persona and of course means something different then the original Latin.

A persona in Latin is the mask an actor would wear to play a part or a roll. When they talked about a trinity they were talking about a God with three personas that He has presented to the world.

Bible Discussion / Re: Did Jesus say that he drank wine?
« on: September 05, 2019, 06:18:43 AM »
This is something that I have to explain all the time to people.  It's like people don't understand that wine can be alcoholic and non-alcoholic and that the Bible distinguishes between the two very clearly.  Non-alcoholic wine actually tastes better anyways, ie that's why it was called the good wine at the wedding when Jesus turned the water to wine.

If that`s the reason then you are saying that the less good wine was alchoholic.

To me it`s important to remember that Judaism isn`t the religeon of Moses. In Judaism the Talmud holds precedence over the Torah. Judaism is as false a religeon as muslim, buddist etc.

I am pro Israel but the religeon of Judaism has no value for a Christian.

@ Jeanne regarding Revelation questions. Although the sealing of the 144,000 is a sixth seal event it occurs during the pause at the end of that seals time after the first resurrection has already happened. The 144,000 will be representing Christ during the day of the Lord after the removal of the Body of Christ by the first resurrection. The locusts are a 7th seal event and the 144,000 are on the earth.

If we can do it without anyone getting mad at me I would be game to answer questions about the book of Revelation.

Mr. Redflame is likely a preterist. I didn`t catch it the first time I read his remarks.

Revelation is written like the Prophectic books of the Old Testament and because of the Old Testament Last Days prophecies there are lots of ways Revelation ties into the informationn given in the Old Testament.

In particular, if you are trying to understand what must happen after the conclusion of the 7 seals you really can`t do it with Revelation alone. You need the Old Testament prophecies as well.

@Mr. Redflame Reading your comments my advise is to clear your head, reassess what you believe about the Revelation and most importantly pray for guidance from the Holy Spirit.

@Reed Scott  the best prophetic sequence is found in Matthew 24 although some events are probably simultaneous. The seven seals follow the sequence of Matthew 24 so there is an order for these events to occur and prophecy is easier to follow and understand once you get that. Everything in the Revelation after the seals are mentioned are detailed events of one of the seals and these also follow in an order according to the opening of the seals. It`s been my experience that people who believe the Revelation is not sequential have flaws in their interpretations of prophecy. Mind you prophecy interpretation is very challeging.

I just got done reading the article on the tribulation/rapture so it`s on my mind. The term Pre Wrath. It`s for sure a Post Trib position because the event often called the Rapture is called the 1st ressurection in the Bible. And it is the event that interupts the great tribulation, it will happen immediately before the Day of the Lord or you can consider it to be the beginning of that Day.

I like Pre Wrath as a term because in my experience Pre Trib Christians tend to be hostile toward any Post Trib position. Calling it Pre Wrath I have found creates an easy opening to begin discussing scripture. The distinction helps to avoid some of the would be attacks from Pre Trib Christians who try to use argument based on flaws in the beliefs of some Post Trib views.Saying Pre Wrath can be a time saver and keep a conversation on what I believe about the gospel instead of somebody else`s dogma.

Bible Discussion / Melchisedec question for Christopher
« on: September 05, 2019, 03:12:12 AM »
I was reading your article on tithing and I have a question about your Melchisedec coments. Which Melchisedec is a Biblical figure that has long been an interest of mine. You cite Hebrews 7:6 as proof that Melchisedec had a father and mother.

How do you reconcile your interpretation of the verse with Hebrews 7:3 which states that Melchisedec has neither beginning nor end of life but was made like the Son of God and is a continual Priest?

The sentence "But he whose descent is not counted from" is generally considered to be a reference to the fact that Melchisedec was not a Levite.

Introduce Yourself / Introduction
« on: September 04, 2019, 06:00:10 PM »
I`m a long time believer though not currently active in a church.  I can`t find the one I need in Wayne county.  The present time is a sad and troubling period of my life and I find myself in great need to reconnect with brethren who understand things of God. I`ve read some of the moderaters articles and found them reassuring to my own understanding of the gospel which has evolved from a peasants 36 year search for truth. I see some similarities in his journey and my own, I am interested in the house church movement and we are both in Indiana.

So I have decided to try this forum. I found this site via a google search on the perils of self love doctrines and I read creationliberty`s writing on the issue. It  really spoke to me and I think we are on the same page on a lot of topics.
