Title: Sports Idolitry Banner
Post by: Kenneth Winslow on October 06, 2019, 06:13:39 PM
We often times preach to sports fanatics outside of stadiums and arenas.
I thought it was time to have a banner specifically for these people and for their particular sin.

I'm in the final stages of designing this banner in collaboration with my friends at preachinggear.com.
I thought some of you may have some observations that could be helpful.

This will be a two sided banner and is currently planned to be 3 feet wide and 4 1/2 feet tall.

I don't have enough experience doing what you're doing to comment on it. I don't know what will work. I would say something is better than nothing in most cases.

If you were to give someone a verse that rebuked their idolatry would you use Ezekiel 14:6, or is there a better one?

If you saw this sign at a game, as an integrated sinner, is possible you might understand the message as you see here, or is there a way to make it better?

I was never into sports; I have no idea.

For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.
-Eph 5:5

Now, that verse has potential for being on a banner.
I'll keep it in mind for future reference.

Here is the final draft for Side A:

It is being sent to the printer this morning.

I've never been into sports, either, but I'm just curious; is it wrong to EVER watch a sports game?

No, of course not.
I'd say that watching sports is sort of like eating candy.
If you never partake you'll be just fine and you haven't missed a whole lot.
If you take in a little you will have some enjoyment, but haven't gained much of value.
If you make it the point of everyday life you can become addicted and will run into some serious problems.
