Trusting in Jesus Christ alone for salvation
« on: January 07, 2019, 08:50:28 PM »
I know that repentance is the grief and godly sorrow of wrongdoing and the trust in Jesus Christ alone for salvation. The question I have is, how can I keep my trust in Jesus Christ alone for my salvation? Does reading the Bible and praying work? Thanks!

We gain faith by hearing and hearing of the word of god

So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
-Rom 10:17
The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.
-Psa 34:18

Ian, if you have truly repented before God, then you're already saved and nothing will change that. Trusting in the Lord Jesus Christ alone for your salvation means that you recognise that there is nothing you can do on your own that will get you into heaven. Trusting in another person, such as a pastor or teacher, won't work, either.

That is very good, Jeanne, because now something terrible has happened in my family that prayer is needed.
