General Discussion / Re: Cross on the Cover

Well, I guess that answers the question.  If I can't take it back to Walmart then I'll cover it up with a piece of leather with cement glue.

I just managed to find a King James Bible in Walmart and decided to buy it straight away as it was the only one left and I needed one, I never had one to begin with.  I didn't think much of the cross on the cover until my brother, Curtis, pointed it out to me more so.  He claims it to be idolatry.  I have listened to "The Biblical Understanding of Idolatry."  Is it idolatry to have a cross stamped on your King James Bible cover?  I happen to not think so but want to be corrected if I'm wrong.

Hi Nate,

Welcome to the forum, I'm very glad that you found it.  It took me awhile to read every post on here.  I would like to add Matthew 18:21-22 to Chris' post.  "Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven."  I would also like for you to catch up on Christopher's "Wolves in Costume" series, especially on those that you've mentioned.  Be patient, there is much for you to learn here and it can be very overwhelming.

I apologize Christopher.  Being a teacher makes way more sense than pastor.  Thanks for explaining the differences.

This may seem bad, but these are some hilarious posts.  Thanks for the laugh guys.

Thanks Kevin and Christopher for the added input of what the hirelings are.  False converts, I suppose, was too much of a wide range to use.  When I said false converts I was also including people that worked in the church, not just the pastor; and those who give their time and money to be seen among the church congregation, or "among men" as the Bible puts it.  Also, I am going to have to agree with Jeanne on Christopher being a pastor.  We specifically use him as our base when Curtis, his wife, and I do our Bible study.  I do however try to include or make more clear what's being said when we pause for questions.  So as to not have a one pastor system at our Bible study we use Christopher as one of our pastors.

The more I read this parable and what happened after Jesus was done saying it, it becomes more clear.  At this point, I'm in full agreement with Christopher on this one.  I believe that the "thieves and robbers" are the pharisees and sadducees.  The "thief", mentioned in verse 10, is Satan.  Of course the sheep are those who came to repentance and faith like Christopher had said.  And again, the sheep not of the fold are the Gentiles.  Also, I want to say that the hirelings are the false converts; but I may need correction on that.

Keep in mind that this is a parable.  Jesus could be talking about what's to come when he gives his life up on the cross; because he says that this was a commandment received by his Father.  He also mentions that, "Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again;" "I lay down my life for the sheep."  It also seems that the sheep that are not in the fold could be the ones who are in Abraham's bosom.  But in no way do I think it has anything to do with what the Mormons teach.

My youtube channel is Silas Cole with only one video "Great Doe Shot with Bow." I chose that name because I planned on using it for my son if he were ever born.  But God blessed me with girls instead.  I have over the years subscribed to many people that I should unsubscribe to.

I'm just glad I managed to get out of my father's church before what happened to her happened to me.  I feel for her and her situation was way worse than mine.  I simply told my father that I love God more than family.  What my family thinks of me now is not what I care about, it's what God thinks of me that I care about.

Luke 12:53; The father shall be divided against the son, and the son against the father; the mother against the daughter, and the daughter against the mother; the mother in law against her daughter in law, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.

You know what's funny.  I was going through the forum to find out if you've ever mentioned your youtube channel so that I could subscribe to it.  Went to your introduction first.  Come to find out that I was already subscribed to your channel.

Yea, I've also researched on the subject of having a baby in the bathtub.  But I don't know if we'll have any more children.

Those are just a few reasons why my daughters don't get vaccinated.  You should have been in the hospital when they wanted to give Naomi shots.  Lets just say I didn't let them.

I've heard that aluminum was used, or is still being used, as a preservative in vaccines.  I'm pretty sure that came from Kent Hovind though.  Something to do with autism I think, when vaccines where first being used.  Though, the aluminum being discussed here and the aluminum being discussed by Kent might not be related.

Laura,

I'm pretty sure I came across CLE when I was researching "speaking in tongues."  But either way, I didn't steam roll into CLE until it started to be the main source for almost all my research; everyone else seemed to be taking scripture completely out of context.  Christopher has been the only one that stays within context way more often than not and has always humbled himself whenever he has been wrong.  Granted, I have found minor inconsistencies but he also said that we would.  So after the past year of listening to CLE content I figured I would get on here and be apart of it.

Jeanne,

Your right.  I have to correct people in my life all the time whenever some person shoots up a school, church, or bar that claimed to be a Christian; I have to remind them that just because someone calls themselves a Christian doesn't mean they actually are.

Thanks Christopher for clearing that up.  I should have tried to put it more simply.  I apologize, Chris, that I didn't explain it the way Christopher did and for the confusion.  One reason why I know my father, my oldest brother, my mother, and my sister are not of Christ is because they don't like the reproof or correction.  Every time I try to discuss anything with them to give them reproof and correction it always turns out to be a yelling match; that doesn't get anybody anywhere.  Even the time I proved to my sister the difference between Easter and Passover, she would not admit that she was wrong nor thanked me for correcting her.  She feels that because she is older she shouldn't get reproof or correction from someone younger, especially her younger brother.  My whole family is the same way except for Curtis, my twin brother, who has come to grief and godly sorrow.  Which is why it was easy for Curtis to love the reproof and correction and not the rest of my family.

Kenneth Winslow,
