Title: Random thoughts that pop in your head
Post by: IMF19 on December 29, 2018, 02:58:42 PM
I just want to know if the KJV has any particular verses concerning our thoughts, such as the random ones that pop in our heads from time to time. I don't want to give into temptation any longer, especially to the sinful ones that the devil tempts us with.

Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
-2Co 10:5

Almost every verse about the thoughts of our heart or imaginations is in a negative context.

Jeremiah 17:9
The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?

I do like this one though
1 Chronicles 28:9
And thou, Solomon my son, know thou the God of thy father, and serve him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind: for the LORD searcheth all hearts, and understandeth all the imaginations of the thoughts: if thou seek him, he will be found of thee; but if thou forsake him, he will cast thee off for ever.

Very good verses, thank you.

I'm praying that God will continue to hear my prayers of repentance and that, if it be His will, take away the regret I have been unable to fully erase from my head.

Acts 8:22 KJV Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray God, if perhaps the thought of thine heart may be forgiven thee.

Ian, you really don't want God to take away the regret; that's a reminder of what you were before and what NOT to go back to. Paul never forgot that he once persecuted and killed Christians. He knew he was forgiven, but he never forgot what he did.

I understand that, Jeanne, and thank you for the correction.

I'm only saying this because I know that when the true Jesus Christ enters your life the moment you repent, and the grace of God is given to you through faith in Jesus Christ, we are saved.

On top of this, because we are saved (now correct me if I'm wrong), we must leave everything that once troubled us behind, and change our lives for His purpose, for the furtherance of His kingdom.

It requires a radical change, and I don't know if it's biblically-accurate to say this, but there's this phrase I use, even before my actual salvation four days ago.

It's called "Jesus is a radical, so why aren't we in Him?"

I've been able to share the message of Creation Liberty Evangelism with some folks at my church for them to know about it, as long as that's not violating anything in the Bible.

I'm praying to the Lord Jesus Christ that through the guidance He gives me throughout the remainder of my life, that people will be saved through this ministry.

I was wondering why you think this could violate what is in the Bible?  Aren't we supposed to share the Word of God?  Doesn't it say "go, teach all nations?"

Well, I didn't know if I was focusing too much on CLE as a whole or if that I'm not giving enough - if any - reverence to God.

I've given the website to about 10 to 12 people at my church, namely the ones I have strong "friendships" with.

It'll only be a matter of time (I don't know how long), before I may be fully condemning the ties I have with the "feel-good new-age" false converts, of which even my own parents and younger brother are a part.

I say this because it says in 2 Corinthians 6:14 "Be not unequally yoked together with unbelievers."

I am independent, but not yet moved out of my parent's house. When I do, the teachings I hear from Jesus Christ through CLE are sure to be in full effect.

Dear IAn, As I understand you were saved recently. I am touched by your enthusiasm, I was like that also. Over the years tough I have learned and understood , by Gods grace, that teaching others and bringing people the Gospel requires skills I needed to learn. I was saved from darkness without having any Christian friends or relatives or church or even a Bible. When I then started studing the Bible I gained understanding and discernment. Yet in the early days that served mainly to get rid of all the sins in my own life. My witnessing and teaching others was very flawfull.

MAtthew 7 3, And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?
4, Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?
5, Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.
6, Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.

Giving people the information on the CLE website can't hurt:-)(The teaching are Biblical and solid.) and it is good you realise that you will cut ties with a lot of things from your old life, because indeed that will happen. 2Co 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

I just want to encourage you that the LORD is in control and leading. It is He that will do the convicting (you and others)and will clean up your life and heart as He sees fit.
Proverbs 3  : 5, Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
6, In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

Thank you for your advice, Masha.

I would like to say that:
1. As I continue down the road of biblical, solid teaching, the uncertainty is real when it comes to finding a woman of my age who will share my philosophy.
2. I must admit, per Chris's advice on the article list page, I don't take everything at face value, just the major parts that need to be learned (i.e. repentance, salvation, born-again, etc.)
3. As I continue to grow radically in faith, as I said before on my "Introduce Yourself" forum, I'm still at my parent's house. When I do move out, it will become more apparent to them that they'll notice a lot of changes.
4. Regardless of how many times my parents complain about how I've changed in life, I will not be apologizing.
5. One day, I will become fully estranged from my parents and other family, as well as my "friends" who are trapped in their "new-age" churches. All that remains is that I would like to find a woman my age - repentant of her sins - who shares my philosophy. Hopefully, we'll marry and still be prominent parts in this true family of Christ.

Hi Ian,

This is something I struggle with too. I was thinking about your post and wanted to share this with you:

Matthew 4:1-11

1 Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil.

2 And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred.

3 And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.

4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

5 Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple,

6 And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.

7 Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

8 Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them;

9 And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.

10 Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

11 Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him.

Hope this helps, and welcome to the forum as well :-)
